Glacier Confection owners Katie Mabrey and Katie Hutto are feeling the love. Hutto says Glacier’s successful holiday season is in due to overwhelming support of the local community. Now Glacier is gearing up for its next big season: Valentine’s Day.

This year at Glacier Dessert Bar, 209 E. Archer St., the chocolatiers are creating special desserts and drinks perfect for couples. Bring your sweetie, your gal pal — whomever — and celebrate love with two glasses of Champagne and either two chocolate-dipped strawberries ($20) or a mini-cake perfect for two ($28). Choose from chocolate or vanilla cake with a layer of strawberry filling, all coated in buttercream frosting and topped with two of Glacier’s strawberry Champagne truffles.

Inside Glacier’s downtown location, guests can pick up chocolates and gift baskets, partake in holiday-themed cocktails and coffees, as well as indulge in all things cocoa. Check facebook.com/glacierdessertbar for updates on specials. Leading up to Feb. 14, a massive balloon installation by Balloon Therapy will be a perfect date-night backdrop and Instagram-worthy photo op. Mabrey says the shop is a great spot for “men to buy a gift and have a drink while they wait.”

In-person and online ordering is available for the chocolatier’s full line of truffles, and special assortments will be for sale. Especially for the big day, the Valentine Tower ($95) features three layers: a base of 24 signature truffles, then 12 pieces of Glacier’s Valentine’s truffle collection, topped with six velvet painted (a technique that airbrushes colored cocoa butter on the truffle to give a velvet-like texture) chocolates.

Options also will be available at the Utica Square location, as well as Glacier’s newest storefront at the Shops of Seville at East 101st Street and South Yale Avenue. Opening Feb. 1, Glacier Chocolate and Coffee will offer full coffee service, gelato and truffles, as well as a full line of specialty pastries. Visit glacierconfection.com for more information.
