The 2020 Women of the Year: Pinnacle Awards were March 5 at the Mayo Hotel. Also known as the Pearl Party, hosted annually by YWCA Tulsa in partnership with the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women, the event honors women who have made an impact on equality in our city, state and beyond.

This year’s Anna C. Roth Legacy Award winner was Tina Peña, associate professor of Spanish and community/medical interpreter trainer at Tulsa Community College.

Kenya Carter, designer and creator of the K. Nicole brand, was recognized with the Arts and Humanities Award. Laurie Tilley, co-founder of Project Elf, earned the Community Building Award. Omare Jimmerson, co-founder of Strong Tomorrows, was honored with the Education and Public Service Award. Shella Bowlin, senior director of strategy and analytics for Cherokee Nation Businesses, was recognized with the Corporate/Business/Trade Award. Gabriella Ortega Lagorin, program director at the Take Control Initiative, was recognized as Rising Star, and Junior League of Tulsa was recognized as Corporate Champion.
