QuikTrip made its first leap into the health care business with its MedWise Urgent Care facilities, the latest of which opened in March at 6336 E. Admiral Place.
“We’ve talked a lot internally about exploring other industries, and our culture has always been centered on caring for others,” says Aisha Jefferson-Smith,
QuikTrip’s corporate communications manager. “That said, given how we’ve grown as a company, we feel like now is the time for us to jump in.”
As of this writing, six MedWise facilities are open in the greater Tulsa area, including Sapulpa, Wagoner, Broken Arrow and Coweta, with at least 15 clinics planned. Jefferson-Smith emphasized the company’s aim to provide a service that is not only personable, but also accessible.
“The experience patients will get at MedWise isn’t all that different from the experience they would get at one of our QuikTrip locations,” she says. “They’ll get that friendly greeting, as well as that human connection.”
The clinics’ urgent care and occupational medical services include vaccinations, flu shots, physical exams, and X-ray and laboratory testing.
“This is our first time diversifying beyond operating convenience stores, but it certainly won’t be the last,” Jefferson-Smith says. “We do have plans to branch out into other industries.”
