Veterans Breakfast and Discussion with Native American Warrior Societies

Date/Time

Sep 22, 2018
10:00 AM until 12:00 PM

Description

Artist T. C. Cannon was both a Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Kiowa Black Leggings Warrior Society. At this special event, join us in honoring both T.C. Cannon and the many veterans and warriors who have served. We will begin with a breakfast provided by VFW Post 577 at 10 a.m., followed by a discussion with members of local Native Veterans Societies, including the Kiowa Black Leggings Society (Ton-Kon-Gah), the Lenape Honor Guard, the Kiowa Women Warriors, and more, as we explore the history and legacy of honor guards, color guards, and Native American warrior societies. Moderated by Gilcrease curator Laura Fry.

Stick around afterwards for a special tour of our current exhibition T.C. Cannon: At the Edge of America. Breakfast is donation based at $5 per person, with proceeds supporting VFW Post 577.

Seating is limited.
