Local motorcycle groups will ride with turkeys and other donations on Saturday, October 12, 2019 to mark the beginning of the fall and holiday season to help John 3:16 with donations. Organized by the Iron Horse Soldier chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association, motorcyclists and anyone else interested in donating to John 3:16 will begin meeting at 11 a.m. in the parking lot at Life Church, Jenks, located on 81st, near Highway 75. The ride will start at 2 p.m. with a police escort. The route will be on Highway 75 to Highway 412, exiting on 33rd West Avenue and finishing at the John 3:16 Refuge, located at 575 N. 39th W. Avenue in Tulsa.
Numerous local motorcycle groups are expected to attend. The ride is not limited to motorcycles. Cars are welcome too.
John 3:16 helps feed our community’s homeless and at risk throughout the year. The need is especially great throughout the holidays. John 3:16’s mission is to help people who are in need know they are loved and not forgotten, especially during the holidays. Last year, not only were hundreds of meals served on Thanksgiving, but nearly 5,000 food baskets were given out to at risk families who may not have had a Thanksgiving meal without the help and support of our generous community.
The motorcycle community wanted to help launch the season, by creating awareness of the need, which continues to grow in our community. So, what better way to bring attention to the need than to have bikers in the area strap on turkeys or other donations to their bikes and ride from an area church to John 3:16’s Refuge location. Snacks will be served to riders as they reach the John 3:16 Refuge. The public is invited to attend.
Free; donations accepted
