BreakBeat Poets

Explore the influence of hip hop on contemporary poetry while pushing your creativity to the max. Using the core elements of hip hop culture, social justice inquiry and media consciousness, construct and perform a personal piece of art that you can be proud of.

Instructor: Quraysh Lansana is the author of the poetry collections The Walmart Republic (2014), mystic turf (2012), They Shall Run: Harriet Tubman Poems (2004) and Southside Rain (2000). Lansana is author of three children’s books and editor of eight anthologies.

Dates: Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10, 2-4:30 p.m.
