Art Practices & Immigrant Narratives

Sep 17, 2019
06:30 PM until 07:30 PM

Tulsa Artist fellows Sarah Ahmad, Moheb Soliman, Edgar Fabián Frías, and Rafael Corzo will join Dallas-based artist Simeen Farhat in a panel discussion exploring the relationship between artistic practices and immigrant narratives from the perspective of artists with an immigrant background.

Discussion Questions:
1. What do you think is the relationship between art practices and immigrant narratives?
2. What are the experiences of artists who have an immigrant story, and their experiences in the art world and their art practices?
3. What does it mean to be a liminal person and what future directions do you envision for your art practices?

"The Lodge," Tulsa Artist Fellow Heyd Fontenot's project within Tulsa Artist Fellowship's Lewis Project Space (20 S. Lewis Ave, Tulsa), is open to all those who crave creative, intellectual and spiritual connection. This incubator, fashioned after artists’ salons, fraternal orders, service organizations and country churches, provides space for casual but meaningful exchange.

We welcome people with disabilities. For questions about accessibility or to request an accommodation, please email or call 918.591.2461. Requests should be made at least one week prior to the event.

With the belief that arts are critical to the advancement of cultural citizenship, Tulsa Artist Fellowship supports both local and national artists while enriching the Tulsa community. Tulsa Artist Fellowship is a George Kaiser Family Foundation initiative.
