46th annual Newsmaker Awards Luncheon

Approximately 200 guests attended the Tulsa Chapter of Association of Women in Communications’ 46th annual Newsmaker Awards Luncheon on May 1 at Southern Hills Country Club.
Newsmaker Awards recipients are outstanding Oklahoma women communicators who have contributed significantly to the advancement of women. This year’s honorees were Teresa Knox, entrepreneur and founder of Community HigherEd; Marina Metevelis, Tulsa’s own “Rosie the Riveter” and the longest-serving Tulsa Community College employee; and Mimi Tarrasch, chief program officer of Family and Children’s Services’ Women in Recovery.
Event proceeds provide AWC Rising Star Communicator scholarships to college students pursuing communications degrees and purchase books for Anderson Elementary School students.
