Desktop: Thomas Winters

Senior partner, Winters & King Inc.

When Thomas Winters graduated from the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University in 1983, he says that he had no idea he would become a literary agent, let alone any idea of what a literary agent does.

Now, Winters is a leading literary agent with 26 books featured on the New York Times Best Sellers list. With clients in all 50 states and nearly 35 countries, the Tulsan is always on the move.

His office in the CityPlex Towers is a space once used by Oral Roberts in the former City of Faith Medical and Research Center. Winters & King Inc. was the third tenant in the renamed CityPlex complex.

Winters’ work as an attorney and a literary agent has taken him all over the world and allowed him to work with some of the biggest names in Christian literature.

“They typically say every pastor wants a newer, bigger building,” Winters says. “Now they want a best-selling book.”

In addition to his work as a literary agent, Winters assists with incorporating churches, ministries and nonprofits — nearly 4,000 to date. He is also a published author and served as a producer on the 2006 film “One Night With the King.” The film grossed approximately $14 million at the box office and sold nearly 2 million DVDs.

Currently, Winters is working on a book deal with Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee, and her family. He is also playing the other side of the aisle, as he is representing a book on President Barack Obama’s Christian faith.

“I’ll be on both sides of that campaign,” Winters says with a laugh.
