Mulling it over
Nothing captures the holiday essence like the spicy scents of mulled cider, and a “spiked” warm cider is a crowd-pleaser.
The holidays are upon us, and soon our homes will be filled with family, friends and the aromas of the season. Nothing captures the holiday essence like the spicy scents of mulled cider, and a “spiked” warm cider is a crowd-pleaser. Putting together this festive concoction is as easy as throwing a few items together in a Crockpot and letting guests ladle their own cups of coziness. As an added bonus, your home will smell incredible as the cider simmers throughout the day.
Makes 16 servings
1 gallon fresh apple cider
1 medium orange, sliced into ¼-inch thick rounds
1 (1 ½-inch) piece fresh ginger, sliced ¼-inch thick

In a Crockpot, add everything except the liquor. Simmer on low for 4 hours. Add booze, stir, let flavors combine for 10 minutes and enjoy. (Leftover cider can be stored and rewarmed up to 3 days.)
