Chai tea recipes from Mecca Coffee

Mecca’s Mmm Mmm Chai

  1. Fill a pan with a half-cup of water.
  2. Add a spoonful of tea leaves, crushed ginger, sugar as needed and, if you’d like, crushed cardamom into the water.
  3. Boil the mixture for about 3-4 minutes based upon how strong of chai you prefer.
  4. Add a half-cup of milk.
  5. Boil again for a few minutes.
  6. Filter it into a cup or glass.
  7. Enjoy!

Mecca's Spicy Holiday Chai

  1. Boil the following ingredients for 5 minutes, then steep 10 minutes:

1 tablespoon fennel or anise seed
6 green cardamom pods
12 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
¼-inch ginger root, sliced thin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper corns
2 bay leaves
7 cups water

  1. Add 2 tablespoons Darjeeling tea, bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes.
  2. Add 6 tablespoons honey or brown sugar and 1 cup milk.
  3. Enjoy!
