My top 10: Sarah Roe
918 Moms’ Money Saving Queen
Just five years ago, Sarah Roe watched as her family’s grocery bills tripled to nearly $800 a month after her oldest son was born with life-threatening food allergies.
Remembering that her father always used coupons, the stay-at-home mom checked out a book from the library and quickly mastered the art of couponing. In her first subsequent visit to the grocery store, Roe bought $180 worth of groceries for a mere $20. She was hooked.
Today, Roe is known as the Money Saving Queen. The award-winning website MoneySavingQueen.com, in conjunction with 918 Moms, receives nearly 1 million page views each month and is in the process of becoming syndicated in cities across the United States.
Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate: I LOVE chocolate. I justify my addiction because I can score this sweet organic chocolate with coupons.
The Vintage Pearl necklace: This is my favorite Vintage Pearl necklace designed by my friend Erin Edwards. It has the names of my two kids, Elisha and Ethan, on it. I wear it so they are always close to my heart.
Spanx: Because of my love affair with Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate.
Paul Mitchell Extra Body Finishing Spray: Mr. Mitchell is a lifesaver for busy working moms. On occasion, I oversleep and my hair needs a little “oomph,” or I’ve been running around all day and have a coupon workshop in the evening. I give myself a little spritz and am as good as new. Of course, I don’t pay full price. I turn to either eBay or Ulta for great deals.
MoneySavingQueen.com Coupon Binder: Coupons save my family hundreds of dollars a month, and my coupon binder travels with me everywhere. For groceries, I organize by category (produce, dairy, etc.) and then shop my way through the grocery store and save!
“The Power of a Praying Wife” by Stormie Omartian: In my opinion, this book is the hands-down key to a successful marriage.
My iPhone: Whether I’m updating deals on MoneySavingQueen.com, taking pictures of my boys and posting (them) to Facebook or answering money-saving questions on Twitter, my iPhone is my lifeline!
My free glasses: I shared this freebie with MoneySavingQueen.com users and thousands of people received free eyeglasses from CoastalContacts.com (me, too!).
Joyce Meyer podcast: What did we do before podcasts? I listen to Joyce Meyer every single day, no matter where I am. It provides instant encouragement and keeps me heading in the right direction.
“Pride and Prejudice” on DVD (BBC version): Ah, Mr. Darcy. I love this movie and watch it as often as possible. Jane Austen is a great stress reliever and helps me escape to a place far, far away.
