Jill Felice Donovan

Occupation: Mom, adjunct law professor and creator of Sweet Blue August Jewelry and Jill Felice Jewelry Designs

Why did you choose your profession? I’ve chosen to be an attorney and jewelry designer but was destined to be a mom.

Original hometown? Baltimore, Md.

Why Tulsa? I came here to go to college, fell in love with the city ... and never left.

Describe your jewelry. Affordable, unique and personable pendants.

What inspires your work? Vivid colors and unique designs. I enjoy doing custom orders and seeing something birthed out of someone else’s idea of what suits their lifestyle and their creativity and watching it come to life.

Favorite piece of art? A painting my husband bought for me the day after the birth of our second daughter.

What’s in your CD player now? “High School Musical 3” soundtrack (we just graduated from “Veggie Tales”).

Favorite thing about Tulsa? The people.

Favorite gadget? It’s a tie between my iPhone and my hair straightener.

Favorite trend? Patent leather purses.

Biggest pet peeve? Selfish people.

Favorite ritual? Vintage Wine Bar on Saturday night with best friends.

What’s your style advice for readers? Have a signature piece (jewelry, clothing, etc.) that people recognize you for.

Favorite quote? “If you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all.”

Who would play you in a movie? I’d like to think Sandra Bullock, but my husband says Lucille Ball.

Biggest fashion blunder? Leaving the tags on my shirt during my first day of teaching.

Most dog-eared book? “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.”

Guilty pleasure? Reality TV, but only the classy ones (yes, I know that’s an oxymoron).

Something people don’t know about you? I speak Russian and I can break-dance.

Favorite piece of clothing? White angora hat that I wore every day for a year when I had a bad haircut.

If you could do something else, what would it be? An Olympic gymnast.

What phrase do you overuse? “I’m going to count to three, one more time.”

Worst piece of advice you’ve ever received? “Really, you can make it without the epidural.”

Hardest professional job? Olive Garden hostess; don’t ask.

Favorite professional job? Teaching law students and designing jewelry.

How do you make your jewelry? I use original graphic designs or non-copyrighted photos and glass-like resin to create pendants and necklaces.

Eco-friendly practices? I use recycled scrabble tiles for all of my pendants.

If you could be somewhere else, where would you be? Visiting old friends in North Wales.

What are you currently reading? “Photography for Dummies.”

Most used item? My iMac.

Last thing you do before bed? Check the stove twice, make sure the doors are locked three times and kiss my girls four times each. Can you say obsessive compulsive?
