Tulsa Tough

Now in its fifth year, Tulsa Tough Ride & Race has become one of the country’s premier bicycle-racing events, attracting some of the world’s top cyclists. In addition to the races, the event includes recreational and tour rides for cyclists of all ages and levels. Spectators can join in the fun with kids’ and youth activities, live music and vendors. This year, Tulsa Tough is also partnering with Partners in Education for the Tough Kids bicycle program, which awards bicycles to third- through fifth-graders to promote healthy lifestyles.

Gem Faire

Are diamonds your best friend? Then you will find plenty to enjoy at Expo Square’s Gem Faire, where you will be surrounded by jewelry designers, importers, manufacturers, beading instructors, gemstone miners and cutters, and gemologists from all over the world. Representatives will also be available to help you assemble your beads and other purchases into unique jewelry creations. Classes, workshops and jewelry repair will also be offered.

Eighth annual Asian-American Festival

Immerse yourself in an international culture at Martin Regional Library’s eighth annual Asian-American Festival. The event will feature activities including a dragon dance, martial arts and Japanese art demonstrations, and Chinese folk dance. Activities for children will also be offered. Bonus: It’s free.

OK Mozart

It’s time to head to B’ville for OK Mozart, the renowned classical music festival, now in its 26th season. Highlights of this year’s event include the world premiere of “Ludwig,” featuring Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestr Sunday Evening Jazz on The Melting Pot patio a; fiddle-playing siblings Celtic Spring; string trio Time for Three; the Spencer Prentiss Classical All Stars; the Woolaroc outdoor concert featuring Amici New York, guest conductor JoAnn Falletta and tubist Kyle Turner; and the grand finale concert, “An Evening of Gershwin.”

"The Wizard of Oz"

Dorothy, the little girl from Kansas, is hitting the yellow brick road and heading to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center for the family musical “The Wizard of Oz” presented by Celebrity Attractions. Based on the beloved 1939 film, the production features musical selections including “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” and “If I Only Had a Brain.” Also, be on the lookout for the Munchkins, 12 of whom will be played by children from the Tulsa area Ovations Dance Studio.

Outdoor concerts Summer is a prime season for Tulsa music lovers. Before Dfest descends upon us in July, head to one of the many outdoor concerts offered this month. From Utica Square’s Summer’s Fifth Night to the First Friday Concerts at LaFortune Park to the Starlight Concert Series (presented on a floating stage on the Arkansas River), there are plenty of opportunities to hear live tunes of various genres in the open air. And head to Jenks for the RiverWalk Concert Series every Friday and Saturday night and Sunday Evening Jazz on The Melting Pot’s patio.
