Sips for July
Restaurant wines for the summer.
Keo
3524 S. Peoria Ave., 794-8200
New bar manager Bruce Seery says it’s high time for a little Kung Fu Girl Riesling from Washington state ($7, glass/$28, bottle). It’s refreshing to tackle hot July weather and it is off-dry to pair with a multitude of Keo’s spicy menu items.
Baxter’s Interurban
717 S. Houston Ave., 585-3134
Kate Baker, a part-time manager at Interurban, loves the EOS Chardonnay ($7/glass, $28/bottle) to go with one of the burgers or chicken sandwiches. If you’re downtown at lunch or dinner, head to the Interurban, one of Tulsa’s landmark restaurants.
The Chalkboard
1324 S. Main St., 582-1964
Manager Tracey Sudberry goes ga-ga over the Calistoga Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, Calif. ($15.50/glass, $62/bottle). Calistoga Cellars has ties to Tulsa with a number of its investors residing here. The wine is lush, rich and has layers of complexity. It’s great with the restaurant’s filet. For a white alternative, try the Jadot Pouilly Fuisse Chardonnay ($14.50/glass, $58/bottle).
