Ascent is a slice of Colorado in Oklahoma
The Brookside boutique targets the outdoorsy crowd with its apparel and goods.
Jeremy Buller has always been an avid skier. He has many memories, starting at 5 years old, of hitting the slopes in Colorado on yearly trips with his family.
In fact, he speaks so familiarly about Colorado that it’s easy to mistake him for a native. That’s one of the reasons why his outdoor apparel and goods store, Ascent, feels so authentic.
“I had a recent customer say when he walked in that it felt like Main Street in Breckenridge,” Buller says. “You can find the same brands here and have that same feeling. We wanted to bring that niche to Tulsa.”
Buller bought the store in 2016 from the previous owner when it was on Cherry Street. The move to Center One on Brookside was a good fit for the business, he says, because it complements the other nearby shops and customers’ interests.
Buller does his best to understand what customers need for outdoor apparel, whether they’re going on a ski trip, camping or on vacation.
“Our high-end customer service is what we hope really stands out,” he says. “So, we take the time to get to know what exactly they need, how long they’ll be there. We can really help them make their trip the best possible experience.”
Many of Ascent’s products can’t be found elsewhere in Oklahoma.
“We’ve really tried to capture that vibe of Colorado, and we think we have,” he says. “I’ve always loved the atmosphere of the ski shops, and it has been a great way to bring that home to Tulsa.”
