A smartphone dining app for local restaurant seekers

Leon's on the Restless Ribbon is one local restaurant that uses it.

A new smartphone app helps hungry Tulsans find dining options.

In the beginning, there were only a few.

When apps for smartphones first became popular, the choices were limited. Options usually ranged from checking e-mail to browsing a small part of the Web.

Now, with thousands of apps and counting, smartphone users can do almost anything.

Tulsa-based Anyware Mobile Solutions hopes that its new DineInsight app stands out above the rest and guides hungry Tulsans to the best eats in town.

“DineInsight benefits both the operator and the consumer by creating a direct communications link between the restaurant and its customers using the power of smartphone technology,” says Jeff McMains, vice president of ReForm XT, Anyware’s online tool that powers DineInsight. “The restaurant administers the content within the app using our Web-based program and can push surveys, promotions, coupons, special events and more to their customers, virtually on demand.”

Launched in Tulsa in December, DineInsight supports images, allowing restaurants to include pictures of food and beverage labels in the promotion.

“The restaurant owners or operators can receive reports from their managers via their smartphones so they know what’s going on at their restaurant after each shift, even if they are off-premise,” McMains says. “So the application is a sales, marketing, advertising, operations and management tool all rolled into a customized mobile app.”

After hearing from people in the restaurant business about increasing labor costs in an already competitive dining market, McMains says using the power of mobility was the next step to minimize these issues.

As owner of Leon’s on the Restless Ribbon, J.L. Lewis understands just how competitive the restaurant business can be. Lewis became one of the first to use the DineInsight app to promote his business.

“I was looking for a different way to reach my customers,” he says. “It is the most direct marketing in the advertising world because the information is right in their hands.”
