Say it with flowers
An inside look at how Toni’s Flowers and Gifts handles the V-Day flower rush.
1. Toni’s anticipates selling between 2,500 and 3,000 roses during these few days. Fifty percent of the arrangements will include this iconic flower of love.
2. In addition to her 17 regular employees, Garner collaborates with Church of the Madeline’s women’s group and Delta Zeta Sorority. The women take care of the 400 deliveries, and in return, Toni’s donates a portion of the day’s proceeds to their causes.
3. After arranging flowers, designers spritz bouquets with water to re-hydrate them and add a dewy, fresh look.
4. The phone rings continually at Toni’s on Valentine’s, making for a crazy day. To keep the mood light and fun, standard poodle puppy Lily has joined the team.
5. Although roses are always a classic, Toni’s finds that creating arrangements with a variety of flowers in romantic reds, pinks, creams and whites ahead of time helps customers who might not have thought of this fresh approach.
6. Toni’s recently moved a few doors down from its previous location to 3549 S. Harvard Ave. The new store includes bar stools at the counter for customers to sit and share their floral vision with the staff, who work to make it happen.
