Desktop: Nancy Day
Executive director, Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice
In 1981, Nancy Day was hired as executive director of Oklahoma’s chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ). Day says the center “took a chance” on the trained journalist and gave her the opportunity to pursue her interest in a mission in which she truly believed.
Thirty years later, she’s still there, working to promote respect and understanding among all races, religions and cultures.
She has been with the organization through restructuring, renaming and relocation. In 2005, the National Conference for Community and Justice formed independent, locally owned 501(c)(3) chapters in lieu of one larger, national 501(c)(3). The newly formed Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice relocated to donated office space in the ONEOK building shortly thereafter.
