Meet the 2010 class of Brainiacs.

Each year, we at TulsaPeople have the challenging task of selecting the newest class of Brainiacs — the area’s top high school seniors. After poring through this year’s nominations, which were numerous and impressive, we selected the following seven students. As you’ll see, these 2010 grads are not just academically inclined but display abilities in a variety of areas, from volunteerism to athletics to the arts. To showcase their diverse personalities, we asked them to design their own photo shoots — via a photo booth. Read on to learn more about these future leaders.

Where are you going to college, and what are you looking forward to most about going there?

In the fall I’m headed to Oklahoma State University, and I am incredibly excited for Big 12 football. Go Pokes!

What were your favorite subjects in high school?

I am a total math geek. Calculus, statistics or anything that has a definite answer is my cup of tea.

What extracurricular activity were you most involved with in high school, and what did you like about it?

Throughout high school I was very involved in ballet, modern and jazz dance at my local studio. Besides the fact that dance was always fun, I had the most amazing teachers and wonderful peers to dance with. I feel truly blessed to have been taught by some of the most inspiring women in Tulsa.

What are you passionate about?

Music and dance. I play piano, guitar and drums and have fantasized about being in a band ever since I got my first guitar. I also absolutely love perfecting dance routines and performing them on stage. In my book, recital day is almost as good as Christmas.

What has been the best part of growing up in Tulsa?

Growing up in Tulsa has allowed me to be close to much of my family. I love going out to dinner with my aunts and uncles and seeing my cousins at church.

What does Tulsa need to change about itself?

Tulsa needs to take advantage of the Arkansas River. A development along the river could potentially bring in serious revenue for the city.

Now that you’ve graduated and high school is behind you, what would you have done differently?

Nothing. I took hard classes in high school and set my goals extremely high. Even though it was a lot of work, I accomplished my goals, did what I wanted to do and have become a more prepared student for college because of my choices.
