Why did you get involved in TYPros?
In late 2004, I worked at Downtown Tulsa Unlimited and my boss at the time had been visiting with Matt Pivarnik and Sheila Curley at the Chamber about this new group and suggested I get involved. I was thrilled to be asked to participate. I felt like this organization filled a void and was going to be a great way for young people to be involved and invested in our community.
What was your greatest accomplishment while on (even if still on) the TYPros leadership team?
Launching the “I am Tulsa” campaign.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of Tulsa’s Young Professionals?
Being involved in an organization that is passionate about bettering our community and the great friendships I’ve made through TYPros.
What is the greatest benefit to being in TYPros?
The ability to have your voice heard by decision-makers in our community.
Favorite Tulsa hotspot?
Downtown, Cherry Street, Utica Square.
Something most people don’t know about you?
Most people probably don’t know that I speak French fluently. A degree in French isn’t very helpful or practical (in Oklahoma, anyways), but my husband appreciates his translator when we travel.
I love Tulsa because …
It has big-city amenities with a small-town feel. I love our downtown and am amazed at the progress made since I moved back from college in 2002. I love the sense of community here. You can’t beat our low cost of living. I know it doesn’t sound exciting, but it allows us to make our lives more exciting. I get to travel a lot more than my friends that live in more expensive parts of the country. And last, but not least, it’s just home — this is where my family and friends are.
Tulsa in five words or less:
Big yet small, artsy, philanthropic.
Social media is …
A necessary evil.
When I’m not in the office, I’m …
Hanging out with friends and family; traveling; running with my dog, Rothko; or just relaxing at home.
Single/married/dating/kids?
Married for five wonderful years to Stephen Pingry. No kids … yet.
