Drillers - Special section - Where to park for Drillers games

Those wary of downtown parking need not worry at ONEOK Field, where parking will be prevalent.

Most people know that trying to find free parking in downtown Tulsa during the day is close to impossible. That is, of course, if you don’t feel like trekking a mile or two.

However, when evenings and weekends approach, downtown streets become a wondrous place of expired parking meters and free parking lots, and the new ONEOK Field plans to take full advantage of this opportunity.

For Drillers fans, the parking choices are endless. The Brady District, the Blue Dome District and the Greenwood District all offer hundreds of spots from which fans can choose, not to mention the 2,000 spots available on the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa campus Friday through Sunday. General fan parking will also be available on the southwest corner of East Archer Street and South Greenwood Avenue, just south of the field.

“There are 3,500 spaces within a five-minute walk from the stadium and 5,500 within a 10-minute walk, and that doesn’t include street-side parking,” says Chuck Lamson, Drillers president and majority owner.

On-site parking is reserved primarily for team members and media. The stadium has arranged for suite and box seat owners and employees to park in the Bank of Oklahoma lot.

ONEOK Field is located in the northeast corner of downtown Tulsa. The field sits just south of Highway 244 between Elgin and Greenwood avenues and is easily seen from the highway.

Fans should take into account that Elgin Avenue will be closed off from Brady to Archer streets to ensure safe passage for fans into the stadium. This area will be closed off for four hours prior to each game, and for one hour after each game. Fans should also remember that certain nearby streets are one-way streets. These include Detroit Avenue, which runs north; Cincinnati Avenue, which runs south; First Street, which runs west; and Second Street, which runs east. While the new ONEOK Field is a big change from Drillers Stadium at East 15th Street and South Yale Avenue, Lamson assures fans that the change is good.

“With the old Drillers Stadium, people knew exactly where to go and where to park,” he says. “We want to make sure they know how to get to the new field and that there is plenty of parking available.”

ONEOK Field will also offer handicapped-accessible parking on Elgin Avenue across from the field.
