Spanning 20 miles of trails along the east and west banks of the majestic Arkansas River, River Parks provides recreational, entertainment, fitness and athletic space for its many visitors. The park system is maintained by the River Parks Authority, a group striving to maintain, preserve, develop and promote the Arkansas River and adjacent land areas. Private donations are vital to the Authority. River Parks Friends is a nonprofit member organization focused on ensuring quality recreation and entertainment remains along the river now and in the future. The parks provide the opportunity to partake in a wide variety of activities such as fishing, rowing, kayaking, disc golf, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. A number of family-friendly playground and picnic areas are scattered along the trail system, including the recently updated playground at the 41st Street Plaza. Curfew for the park is 11 p.m.-5 a.m., with the exception of the Elwood’s area at East 19th Street and South Riverside Drive, where curfew has been extended until 1 a.m.
The River Parks Authority is a public trust created in 1974 to develop and maintain public park areas along the Arkansas River in Tulsa County.
