Seeds of inspiration

Seeds of inspiration

As the recent Tulsa weather has proven, it is still winter here in Oklahoma.

For green thumbs it’s the time to finish up planning and implementing tactics for the spring and summer garden season.

For the rest of us, it’s the time to start thinking about what we’ll be planting. No matter your gardening abilities, it’s the perfect time to visit the Gardening Info Fair at the Tulsa Garden Center this Saturday.

The 2012 Gardening Info Fair will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and will feature a wealth of information for those in attendance.

Representatives from area nurseries, as well as horticulturists, environmentalists and landscape designers will be on hand to answer any question you may have. Many of the Tulsa Garden Center’s affiliate garden groups will provide guidance and information on specific topics, too.

A highlight this year is a Tulsa Garden Center seminar, “Patio, Paths, Driveways and Retaining Walls,” which will be presented by Tim Shoemaker of Midwest Block & Brick, and held from 9:30-11:45 a.m. in the Garden Center Ballroom.

Shoemaker will present different materials that can be used to create a backyard patio, pathways and other usable spaces, along with retaining walls. Proper construction techniques for the do-it-yourself types will be taught, but also provided in a way that those wanting to work with a contractor will be able to be more knowledgeable on the subject.

Pre-registration is required for the seminar. Call 918-746-5125 to register and for pricing. Click here for more information.
