Moves like Jackson

Moves like Jackson

First it was Michael Jackson, now Whitney Houston has left us, too. After hearing the news of Houston’s untimely death this past weekend, I could not help but think that the musical stars of my childhood were dropping like flies. Just as my childhood was a thing of the past, the voices that provided its soundtrack now were as well. I was downright bummed. Then I started looking on the bright side. The beauty of being a star, especially a recorded one, is that your legacy lives on forever.

For Jackson fans, the creative minds behind Cirque du Soleil have taken the legacy of the “King of Pop” to a higher level – literally. Cirque du Soleil’s "Michael Jackson, The Immortal World Tour," which takes over the BOK Center this weekend, combines the acrobatics of Cirque with the music and moves of Jackson.

I had the pleasure of seeing my first Cirque show in Las Vegas three years ago and to this day, it is the highlight of that trip. For those unfamiliar with Cirque du Soleil, it is a self-described mix of circus arts and street entertainment — think aerial artists, contortionists and gymnasts. I guarantee you will not be able to take your eyes off the action. Still need convincing? To see a preview of the show, click here.

There are two chances to see Cirque’s thriller of a show (pun intended) this weekend with an evening performance Saturday and a Sunday matinee. Tickets are range from $50 to $175 and VIP packages are available. For more information or to purchase tickets to the show, click here.
