Don't miss the boat

Don't miss the boat

It’s that time of year again. It’s Boat Show time!

I’ve been to the Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show more times than I can count, but it’s an event I always love to attend.

Whether it’s standing there in amazement while I tour the newest $1 million boat, envisioning a camping trip while in a more economically-friendly RV or arguing with my husband that now really is not the time to buy that bass boat he so desires, I love the boat show.

This year the show (which began Monday) continues through Sunday, Feb. 5, at the QuikTrip Center at Expo Square. The organizers have packed it full of interesting seminars, exhilarating entertainment and a plethora of recreation fun.

Earlier in the week performances by motocross daredevils the Smage Brothers entertained audiences. During the rest of the Show, Trapper Joe and Trigger Tommy, two of the stars from the History Channel’s hit show "Swamp People," will make appearances. Meet-and-greets will be held 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Saturday.

Families are sure to enjoy the Family Fun Splash Zone featuring paddleboats and the new rapid-fire paintball. The Family Fun Splash Zone benefits the Tulsa Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Of course, what’s a Boat Show without some fishing seminars? This year some of the biggest names in professional fishing will be treating guests to tips during a variety of seminars. A complete schedule of seminars is available at www.tulsaboatshow.com.

All of this is just a sampling of what’s in store for guests to the 56th annual Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show, the southwest’s largest recreational show.

Tickets are $10 per person. Kids 12 and under get in free. Coupons for $2 off admission are available at participating Subway restaurants.

For more information visit www.tulsaboatshow.com. The Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show is open noon-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
