Good news/bad news from Cain's
Good news and bad news from Cain’s Ballroom this week.
Since the economy is such a downer, let’s start with the good news first:
Ghostland Observatory is coming back to town for another show on May 29, 2009.
It was a great show at D-Fest last summer, arguably the best show of the entire event. They were incredible at Cain’s this past fall and now they're coming back with their high-octane, laser-powered show.
Might I propose catching the first night of Tulsa Tough, racing around the Blue Dome District and then heading over to Cain’s a few blocks away for some great rock?
Sounds like a fun night to me.
Okay, now for the bad news.
Yonder Mountain String Band has cancelled the remainder of their tour. This includes their upcoming show at the Cain’s on Sunday, March 1.
Details are sketchy but a family emergency involving guitar player Adam Aijala’s wife seems to have necessitated the cancellation.
From their website:
“Just wanted to send a note to everyone out there to say thank you so much for sending good thoughts to my wife and family. She's doing better and I'm hopeful things will be back to normal, but it will take time. She needs me right now to take care of her, the kids and the dogs. It bothered us deeply to have to cancel the February tour knowing full well that you were anticipating our start in 2009...we were, too. Every night we get on stage I am reminded why we continue forward and, ten years later, you guys still make it exciting for us. I know it's cliché to say, but we couldn't do it without you. Again, I can't thank you all enough for the continued support through it all. I'll see you in April.”
Best wishes to everyone involved.
