Another Hot Oklahoma Night: a rock n' roll exhibit
The Oklahoma History Center, 2401 N. Laird Ave., in Oklahoma City will host Another Hot Oklahoma Night: A Rock & Roll Exhibit. They just put to rest "t-shirt-gate" as Gov. Brad Henry just signed “Do You Realize?” by The Flaming Lips as our official state rock song.
Now they are delving into the stew/mosaic/quilt work (insert cliché here) of Oklahoma rock. Everything from early country roots with Wanda Jackson to the influence of R&B (The GAP Band had better be represented or there will be penalties created and enforced) will be a part of this exhibit. This exhibit will pay tribute to the fans, venues and goofy personalities that have been such an integral part of our musical heritage.
To celebrate the opening, there will be Guitar Hero, tie-dying and rock star makeovers, as well as a ton of bands: The Oh Johnny! Girls, Camille Harp, Unmarked Cars, Crocodile, The City Lives, and official Oklahoma rock song finalist John Moreland & the Black Gold Band.
It kicks off on May 2 at 11 a.m.
