Top top chef

Bravo recently announced the contestants for its upcoming “Top Chef Masters” show premiering June 10 — a veritable who’s who of the culinary world. Instead of culinary hopefuls competing to establish their name, this version pits well-knowns in a competition to defend their names — with the winners donating awards to their selected charities. The first six episodes will consist of four chefs competing against one another to name one winner. The six winners from these episodes will then meet for the final four weeks, when one person will be eliminated each episode until the finale, during which one winner is crowned Top Chef Master. The winning chef will receive $100,000 for the charity of his or her choice.

The new judges will be former New York magazine food critic Gael Greene, Saveur editor-in-chief James Oseland and British food critic Jay Rayner.

Special guests include Neil Patrick Harris, Zooey Deschanel, Morgan Spurlock of “Supersize Me” fame, “Lost” writers and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, “Flipping Out’s” Jeff Lewis and all of the previous “Top Chef” winners. The regular “Top Chef” judges, Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons, will also appear.

Another reason to watch? “Top Chef Masters” contestants include Oklahoma native Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill in Chicago.
