Swingin’ Easter Saturday
Start a new tradition with an Easter weekend social dance put on by TOSS.
Ready to put the new season in full swing? The Oklahoma Swing Syndicate (TOSS), inspired by the upcoming holiday and the unmistakable energy of the vernal equinox, is putting on an Easter Swing Dance this Saturday.
If you’ve already got a little Lindy in your feet, arrive at 6:30 to learn some new tricks. Or if you’ve never swung outside a playground, come at 7 for the beginner lesson. The dance begins in earnest at 7:30, so put on your Easter best and dance the night away to live music.
Make it an exciting date night, bring a group of friends or arrive solo — no partner required. Everyone is super friendly, so dancing with a stranger isn’t as scary as it sounds — in fact, it’s part of the fun! These events are always all-ages and family friendly, too — you’ll see dancers from 12 to 90 tearing it up, swing style. The people-watching alone is worth the admission cost, because many of the dancers have some serious style to match their amazing moves.
All of TOSS’s dances are held at Southminster Presbyterian’s community center (3500 S. Peoria) on Brookside, so you can easily make an evening out of it, with dinner before or drinks after (or both). The weather is going to be gorgeous, so try snagging a patio seat at R Bar, Cosmo Café or HopBuz. If you’re all dolled up for date night, get a reservation at Mondo’s before the dance (dudes, take note, I have basically planned the perfect date for you. You’re welcome.).
Entrance to the dance is $12 for non-members, $10 for TOSS members and $8 for students.
