McNellie's charms on St. Patrick's Day
Being 20-something, I know a lot of people my age and older look forward to seeing green on St. Patrick’s Day.
Today, the holiday means a lot more than shamrocks (unless it involves wearing a sparkly, fake shamrock tattoo) and leprechauns (unless it involves eating a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal – you are never too old for Lucky’s delicious marshmallows!).
St. Patrick’s Day is a reason to catch up with friends after a day at the office and share conversation over a green beer or two.
Many Tulsans will head outside (today’s weather is supposed to be in the low 80s!) and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day downtown at McNellie’s, where it’s closing down First Street in front of the Pub and pitching a giant tent.
In order to celebrate the green holiday, McNellie’s has a Gig Rig, which is an 18-wheel truck filled with kegs and equipped with 30 tap handles.
Provided by Guinness, the Gig Rig is one of only three in the entire country. I’m sure many will be thanking Elliot Nelson for his acquirement later this evening.
If you’re a downtowner or not, go to McNellie’s after work for a $3 pint of March’s featured beer- the Boulevard Irish Ale- and celebrate with other “Irishmen.”
The Pub is already open and the beer tent opens at 2 p.m.
