Tulsans step into the spotlight during SummerStage.
(Sorta) Love Songs
Each June, Tulsans step into the spotlight during SummerStage. Local companies will produce nearly twenty shows at the PAC throughout the month. This weekend, SummerStage begins, with a Victorian classic, jazz singers, a variety show, and everyone’s favorite ogre.
Start off your weekend of musicals by taking in “The Secret Garden” at Liddy Doenges Theatre. The classic tale will pull you right in as it takes you on a musical trip to Victorian England to witness a story about guilt, suffering, and rebirth. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. There will also be a performance on Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m.
“(Sorta) Love Songs” is a variety show featuring performances from wacky characters to serious ballads—comedy, drama, and music talents will leave audiences with food for thought and a smile. Music will be from Paul Loesel and Scott Burkell. The show will be at Charles E. Norman Theatre on Thursday, June 2, at 8:00 p.m.
Take the family on a trip to the swamp with everybody’s favorite ogre in the Tony Award-winning “Shrek: The Musical.” Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on June 3-4, 9-11, and June 5, 11-12 at 2 p.m. at John H. Williams Theatre.
"My Yiddishe Mamas: The Early Years" is a tribute to women that have left their mark on entertainment through jazz and pop songs from the early 1900s to the 1960s. The show will feature Rebecca Ungerman, Jennifer Paxton, and Machele Miller Dill. Performances are at the Charles E. Norman Theatre at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.
