A party down on Main Street
One of the best aspects of working for TulsaPeople – attending special events. So when communications pal Linda Jordan invited me to be a judge at the RedFork pie contest, I was totally up for it. Scheduled for this past spring, they had to call a rain delay until this Saturday, August 8. Unfortunately, I have to take a pass this time because I broke my foot and can’t drive … but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on this and other entertainment at Down on Main Street - a RedFork Tradition.
The free event will feature live musical performances from Travis Kidd and Jay Falkner of South 40. A farmers’ market with a Westside charm. A $6 Blue Plate Special (chicken-fried steak, etc.) from Ollie’s Station Restaurant. The Global Gardens-sponsored “Kids’ Zone,” with a “Plant a Seed” workshop, arts and crafts, face painting, inflatables, corn dogs and ice cream for children of all ages.
It runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in old RedFork downtown near Ollie’s Station Restaurant, 4070 Southwest Boulevard.
Free shuttle parking is available at OSU Women's Health Center, 2345 Southwest Blvd. and Webster High School, 1919 W. 40th St.
Proceeds benefit RedFork Main Street — working to restore the RedFork Main Street/Southwest Boulevard corridor as the cultural, educational and economic backbone of the Red Fork community.
